Are you packed?

Hey gang- Megan Hamilton has put together some awesome devotions. I just wanted to share one of them with you to get you pumped for what is in store in the next few days.
Saturday June 10 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. —Psalm 100 verse 5 (Did you notice this is the verse from our shirt?)

Well, all of our bags are packed… we’ve had our “send-off” service. School’s done, and you’ve probably gotten to spend some time this week with friends and family. You’ve packed a lot of time into preparing for this trip… and have no doubt packed a LOT of activities into these past few weeks! But are you ready? I mean—spiritually ready? Have you gotten much of a chance lately to reflect on why we’re going? To see Guatemala and Honduras, sure—to get to build houses, play with children, pass out pills, perform mimes and play some basketball—yes. But the reason behind all of that, the only reason that we’re doing anything is because God is good, and He sent His only son to die for the eternal needs of His people so that they could be part of His family, too. That truth is so good that we want everything we do to reflect it. And God is so good that we want to spend time with His family— our Guatemalan and Honduran brothers and sisters… and learn from them, too. So take a few minutes to reflect on God’s character. I recommend reading the psalm that our theme verse comes from (Psalm 100). Reflect on each verse… spend some time reflecting on His character. To help you focus, spend some time writing out the answer to these questions either in your journal (if you haven’t packed it away) or below.
What are some of God’s characteristics that are good? What about Him leads you to worship?
What are some ways that you have seen the above characteristics manifested in your life? How has God demonstrated His faithfulness to you?
Spend some time praying that God would reveal His goodness and faithfulness to you over this trip. Ask God to show you who He is in a big way as you prepare to leave some of your spiritual and physical comfort zones for the next two weeks.
(and sleep well! We’ll see you tomorrow!)

See you at the airport in Guatemala on Sunday night- Suki :)
