Metapan El Salvador

Greetings

We made it to Metapan. Yesterday we left Campur at 7:55 am (5 minutes before our scheduled time) - this was a major accomplishement.

We had about 6 hours of a bus ride and got to stop for lunch at a mall. Then a 1 hour bus ride to the border- it only took us one hour at the border so it went very smooth. Then a short 30 minute ride into Metapan. We were welcomed at the church by many families and had a great dinner of cheese and bean papusas (imagine a very flat quesidilla) They are a local dish. We had a church service where the mime and childrens team presented. The mime team was able to do Forgiven by His Love and a few of the other sketches theyve been working on. Nicole Crum and Sammi Husband gave their faith storys (both did great) Kevin Franske gave a short message.

Then we got the students ready for home stays. All of the females are in home stays and all of the boys are on mattresses at the church. The boys are a little disapointed they didnt get home stays but are having a fun time being all together.

The students left for ministry at 8:30 this am. The medical team is on the outskirts of the city until 3. The service team is working on replacing filters and painting at the church. The basketball team has 2-3 games today and a very competitive one tomorrow night around 7 (all teams will get to watch this). Childrens has 3-4 schools and the Mimes have 3-4 performances- the last of which is tonight in the park.

All kids are doing well. We have a few kids (and leaders) that have started to get sick but the doctor is instructing them on what is ideal to take. Please continue to pray for general health of the team.

I got to the internet cafe today about an hour ago and the connection is very slow. I hope to come back this afternoon to get comments from parents and upload a few more pictures and comments. We have had very little luck with the phone hotline this year and the church phone system just changed- its probably best to just continue to check the blog.

Thank you parents and supporters for all your continued prayer and comments. They are very uplifting to the kids.

    Hi Elizabeth Z,
Looks like the medical team is busy as usual. Hope you are enjoying this new aspect of the trip and are able to use your Spanish more than you did last year when you were on the Mime team!!! Things are pretty quiet at home and work. The house has an empty feeling since you and Cate and all the relatives left on Sunday. We are praying for all of you for safety, good health and for each of you to make an everlasting impact for God's Kingdom. We know you will. Much love, Dad, Mom, Danae and Ginger. PS - Lord Butterfield says to say "hello" to all his 'distant cousins' in the rain forest!

    Chelsey,

We are so glad to hear that you made the second leg of your trip safe & sound. We are praying for health and safety for all, and quick recovery for those that have become ill.

I talked with Madeline today. We will greet you at the airport. I hope that you enjoy your remaining time and are able to come home with no regrets. You have such a great heart for kids & people in general.

Kajsa graduates tommorrow. I was planning to go, but Nana prefered I stayed home because of lots of flooding in SE Wisconsin. It is sunny & beautiful here.

We miss you & will see you soon.

    With Love,

    Mom (& Dad)

Sarah mentioned some folks are not feeling well. How are you doing? We continue to pray for your health and for the ministry.

Your time in Central America is going by quickly. Savor the moments.

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God.

I love you, Taylor and miss you tons! Say hello to Jeff for me!

    Kelli Michelle,
We'll be heading to the cabin for a day and a half, and just wanted to see how you were doing. Sarah said some of you weren't feeling so good, so wanted to let everyone know that we are praying for quick recoveries and that the rest of you stay healthy. Keep the posts coming - we check them out many times each day. Read that CJ went runnning one of the first days on the trip - those EP track boys are so dedicated! One of you (Alicia?) wanted to say "Hi" to Mr. Halloran. We will be seeing him Sunday night, so I'll give him the blog site to check out.

Can't wait to hear all about your experiences! I love you Kelli!!!

    Mom

P.S. Robbie misses you, but is happy to have Riley to himself.

Glad to hear that you all made it to the next destination. Hope that you are not one of the people that is sick. We will continue to pray for you that you stay healthy. Your Dad and I and Holly are leaving for the cabin today and will be gone for the weekend so we will not be able to blog to you over the weekend. We will check on Sunday when we get back to see how you are doing. Keep writing. We love to hear from you. Say "Hi" to Erica for us. May God fill you with a love and joy to serve the people.

    Love,
    Mom

P.S. Did you get your Aunt Kate's blog? I sent your blog site to Grandma and Grandpa and all your aunts and uncles. Maybe you will hear from them.

    Hey Sweetie...Kelly
Sounds like your gang is doing a lot of good work on your trip.
I also get the feeling you are enjoying the travel just as much as the clinic work.
Joanie had a new cast put on this morning and we got a couple of pictures of her ankle to trade for your video of the tendon repair surgery ;-)
I leave for Pittsburg for a week just a couple of hours before you arrive home so it will be another week before I get to see you, but do stop in and visit/help Joanie while I am gone.
We miss you and love you....Dad and Joan

    Kelsey-
Hi baby. How's my girl? I read that some of you are sick. We're praying for you guys. I hope you're well! Please write when you get a chance. The rain shower sounds like a blast! Kind of like when you and Britt always played in the rain when you were little. Dad and I are at the cabin - I'm writing this on my blackberry. Pray for Chrissy, Mitch and Ali- their Grandpa Reinert died yesterday. Can't wait to see you and hear all about your trip. I'm sending you hugs and kisses! Love, Mom
