Day 2 - Chapter 2

For those readers wondering about the childrens team, have no worries.  They are indeed doing well. Yesterday (service day 1) they started out the morning by doing 2 shows just down the block from where the medical team had set up their clinic.  The first group to come to the show was the younger kids, from pre-school to about 3rd grade.  It was a big crowd and they really got into the songs and doing all the motions.  The liked watching the puppet show as well.  The second show, with a crowd of older elementary children, went well also.  One of the highlights for our students is as the end of each show when they get to make balloon figures for the children and tie the Gospel color bracelets on the kid's wrists.  It gives our students a chance to interact on a one-to-one basis and really experience how much these children love having us come and tell them about Jesus.  In the afternoon the team went to a middle school where the crowd was mostly teenagers.  Since their program is really geared to smaller children they didn't do the puppet part of the program but instead took more time for our students to mingle with the Guatemalan students.  It was a good opportunity for more in-depth conversations.

A prayer request for the childrens team would be for renewed energy for each performance.  They have been doing great so far - each new group of children creates new opportunities to share.

We're about ready to mount up and start another day of service. I'll post an update tonight.

It sounds like you are off to a good start! I am glad that I was able to visit Guatemala in 2008 so that now I can better understand and visualize what you are doing. I know that you will all be blessed by your time and experiences there.

Leah, I was happy to hear that your first meal there was hamburgers. Yeah! Good old American food! We love you and miss you.

    Love,
